I am making a poster about the treaty of Waitangi and I have to write two different perspectives on the treaty and I am doing the perspective of a missionary and someone from todays perspective towards the treaty, So what do people think about the treaty today?

That's a really good question. There's a lot of controversy surrounding the treaty today and a lot of debate surrounding mistranslations of important words such as "sovereignty" in the English version being written as "kawanatanga" in the Maori version meaning "governorship". Maori were also promised Tino rangitiratanga (chieftainship) of their lands, villages and all their possessions however this contradicts article one in the English version where the maori gave up their sovereignty. It is easy to see how this resulted in a lot of controversy as many do not believe that maori ever gave Britain sovereignty of nz. A perspective you could use in a member of a tribe who have made claims of the treaty being dishonored to the Waitangi tribunal- often about land being wrongfully taken from Maori that is now owned by non-maori. Ngapuhi have made a lot of claims and have also gained back lost land so they could be good group to study/ get a perspective off. Good luck
